Modulift completes ship project with Test & Lift Engineering Services
LiftEx2023 exhibitor and LEEA member Modulift recently partnered with Test & Lift Engineering Services to support the recalibration of a vessel’s crane for a national ship repair company.
The MOD110H spreader beam, with a 2.5m working load, was deployed for the project in the northeast of England, providing support and stability for the crane calibration process. The lift also utilised modular, interlocking test weights from Test & Lift Engineering Services.
The weights, combined with a test weight cradle, were securely locked into position and maintained the integrity of the lift while adhering to strict safety standards.
“The crane underwent calibration at various loads up to 140,000kg (140 tons). This calibration process spanned several days, highlighting the precision and attention to detail for the successful completion of the project,” said Andy Clark, Director, Test & Lift Engineering Services.
“This successful collaboration between Modulift, Test & Lift Engineering Services, and the national ship repair company showcases the effectiveness of advanced lifting solutions in critical industrial operations. The integration of Modulift’s spreader beam and the careful implementation of test weights demonstrates the commitment to safety, efficiency, and accuracy in lifting operations,” added Sarah Spivey, MD, Modulift.
Globally, Modulift recently appointed Yeong Shin Steel Wire Rope Company as a stock-holding distributor for Taiwan, to meet a growing demand in the country for DNV (Det Norske Veritas) type approved spreader beams.
Yeong Shin will stock Modulift's MOD 12, 24, 34 and 50 spreader beams, with capacities from 12 to 50 tons, complete with end units and drop links, for same day collection or next day delivery.
The company, based in Yilan County, south east of Taipei, specialises in the assembly and supply of wire rope along with a range of shackles, hooks and other attachments from companies such as Yoke and Green Pin.
"We are thrilled to partner with Modulift as their authorised distributor in Taiwan. Modulift's commitment to quality and safety aligns perfectly with our values, and we believe that this collaboration will greatly benefit our customers by offering them the safest lifting solutions available in the market, with the fastest turnaround time possible," said Ben HSU, CEO, Yeong Shin.
