The City of Bristol College has partnered with LEEA to offer its Accredited apprenticeship scheme, open to any UK citizen aged 16+ who wants to pursue a career in lifting equipment. As part of International Women’s Day on March 8, LEEA invited female colleagues from all around the world at Kito Crosby to give us their perspective on being a woman in the industry and how to encourage the next generation of diverse talent into the lifting engineering sector. Liftket UK recently became a full member of LEEA. Here to tell us more is Barry Williams who became director of Liftket UK in January, after taking over from John Jones, who has now retired. The company is excited to launch its single phase hoist, Star 1 this summer, thanks to demand for its 110V.

10. LiftEx 2024 Live Franklin Offshore Europe
As part of LEEA’s Be my Guest series, Jenny Eagle, reporter for LEEA chats to exhibitor Hans Coenen, operations manager, Franklin offshore Europe at LiftEx 2024 at London Olympia (October 16,17). On display was the announcement that Franklin Offshore International (Singapore) made the world’s longest grommet sling measuring 110m (360.8 ft) long, with a diameter of 19 mm (7.55 in), constructed in June 2003 and with a calculated grommet breaking load of 3,070 tons.
