Be my Guest…Ashley Thacker
It's not too late to enter this year's LEEA Awards 2024. Here, Ashley Thacker, MD, Ranger Lifting, tells us what it was like to win last year's Industry Leader category and why members should enter this year's awards....
“Winning the LEEA Industry Award last year was surreal, it's so nice to be recognised by a worldwide association. A lot of people entered, so being in Australia, what some might see as an island in the middle of nowhere was nice to get some recognition down under,” said Thacker.
“Also, just to be amongst some of the big industry heavy hitters, to be nominated, let alone to actually win. The awards are pretty impressive. I’ve got the award on my desk and it's definitely a talking point when people come in for meetings.”
As part of the Industry Leader category, now renamed to Excellence in Leadership this year, Ranger Lifting submitted details about the growth of the business and being a part of the newly formed LEEA Australia/New Zealand Regional Council and the online courses it completed within the association to gain National Accreditation.
Next up is LiftEx Gold Coast 2024, taking place on September 12-13, with 20 exhibitors confirmed and expecting more than 700 people to attend.
“As far as entering the LEEA Awards 2024, people should go for it. You’ve taken time to build your brand, to build your business and its great recognition to have on your CV, especially when you're dealing with bigger clients to show you have that global recognition in your industry field,” added Thacker. “What have you got to lose?”
Ranger Lifting opened two more branches this year and is developing new courses and a website to follow. Thanks to its continued growth it will making an announcement at LEEA LiftEx in London Olympia October 16-17, 2024.
“We've got a really good knowledgeable team. We sort of run our business a bit different here with business partners in each location, operating like smaller companies, which come together as a bigger company, harnessing their technical knowledge to compete on a bigger stage,” said Thacker.
“A lot of corporate companies have lost a lot of their technical knowledge so they focus on pricing. But to me it's not always about prices, it's about how you can help people and use your technical knowledge and show what your capabilities are. But it’s definitely a team effort.”
